What does that mean for industry veterans and big players in this space? A welcomed celebration of resilience and momentum that will continue to drive travel demand and business as a whole. From innovative new builds to bespoke experiences, we round up 9 new hotel openings in 2021 that we are most excited about:
1. Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun
The Details: Opening this September, this family-friendly resort is conveniently situated between Playa Del Carmen and the Cancun Hotel Zone. Surrounded by lush foliage and sparkling waters, guests can truly uncover the meaning of luxury all-inclusive.
What’s So Special: Complete with globally-inspired and locally authentic restaurants, 9 swimming pools and even an oceanfront water park, does it get any better than this?
2. Ritz Carlton Maldives
The Details: The first Ritz Carlton on the island debuted in June and surely didn’t disappoint. The property boasts 100 overwater or beachfront villas with a dedicated aris meeha (personal butler) who organizes cultural activities such as Maldivian cooking classes and traditional sunset drum performances.
What’s So Special: Home to a resident dolphin pod, guests of all ages can explore the underwater world with activities led by experts from Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment program.
3. Sandals Royal Curacao
The Details: Although it’s set to technically open next year, the new resort is officially accepting bookings. Situated in the Southern Caribbean on the coast of a small island, Sandals Resorts’ first venture into the island will embrace the natural and cultural wonders of this breathtaking destination while offering the same five-star brand standard that brand loyalists have come to expect.
What’s So Special: The new all-inclusive resort will debut a number of Sandals “Firsts” including new Butler Bungalow room categories, exclusive gourmet dining options, beachside food trucks, a wine and dine experience aboard a 92 foot authentic Dutch ship, and many more.
4. Saba Rock
The Details: BVI’s iconic island retreat is reopening its doors this October with an entirely new build that oozes private luxury. Boasting seven rooms in addition to two “island suites,” a new open-air restaurant serving freshly-caught seafood, richly stocked bars, and sweeping views, the resort’s highly anticipated comeback will be bigger than ever.
What’s So Special: While this gem has been around since the 1960s, the entire resort was rebuilt from the “ocean up” after being devastated by Hurricane Irma. Travelers can expect a new design from the same Caribbean charm.
5. The Yucatan Playa Del Carmen Resort
The Details: The Tapestry Collection by Hilton brand’s first all-inclusive resort officially opened its doors to travelers in May of this year. Situated in the bustling town of Playa Del Carmen on the famed Fifth Avenue, the sleek resort conveniently gives guests access to amenities at its sister resort, complete with a private beach, water activities, tennis, a luxury spa, and an Olympic-sized pool.
What’s So Special: A stylish rooftop pool with a live DJ and trendy dining options give this all-inclusive a trendy, city hotel vibe that sets itself apart for those looking to depart from the traditional all-inclusive resort.
6. The Goodtime Hotel
The Details: This South Beach vintage-inspired property is Grammy Award-winning artist Pharrell Williams and hospitality entrepreneur Dave Grutman’s latest collaboration. Having opened its doors in April, guests and locals alike have been flocking to Miami Beach for good vibrations and what the hotel promises to be a genuinely good time.
What’s So Special: Its retro design pays homage to the Art Decor era, boasting a pink and aqua day club and restaurant dubbed Strawberry Moon, a library, and 226 rooms that are pure fun with leopard-print benches and pink rotary dial phones.
7. Thompson Austin
The Details: The state’s capital is welcoming a stylish 212-room property this fall that will add to the city’s charm and appeal to travelers worldwide. The new property promises an open-air pool deck, over 30,000 sq ft of indoor and outdoor event space, an expansive wellness center, and more.
What’s So Special: In true Austin foodie fashion, the hotel is debuting with a culinary concept from James Beard Award winner Mashama Bailey of The Grey in Savannah and restaurateur Johno Morisano.
8. Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya
The Details: Recently opened this summer, Karisma Hotel & Resorts’ latest property deserves all the hype. The all-inclusive resort is exclusively designed to welcome families for a premium vacation experience with a playful Nickelodeon twist.
What’s So Special: This beach escape features all the goods from the Aqua Nick water park to meet-and-greet character experiences. Best of all? It’ll have the first-ever Turtle Lair Suite dedicated to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
9. Hard Rock Hotel Madrid
The Details: This picturesque city hotel debuted earlier this year right in the heart of the “Golden Triangle of Art” in the Spanish capital. The property dons the brand’s signature memorabilia, lifesize lyrics, and vibrant artwork that showcases Madrid’s culture and style throughout.
What’s So Special: Not only is it set in the magical city of Madrid, but it’s so conveniently surrounded by some of the country’s best museums, fine dining, and invigorating nightlife.
